Acting with J.D Hall, a Policeman Again

Here I am with J.D. Hall in the Scorpio Rising Theater production of Void Where Prohibited in Los Angeles. I’m playing a sadistic cop once more. Obviously, J.D. gets the drop on me and my hapless assistant. J.D. Hall went on to a sucessful character actor career in Hollywood and provided the voice for the Incredible Hulk movie.

Acting with Logan Ramsey, and George Murdock in the Chicago Conspiracy Trial

Here Here I am in the Odyssey Theatre Ensemble performance of the Chicago Conspiracy Trial in Santa Monica with the late wonderful character actor Logan Ramsey, a 50-year veteran of movies, television and stage. The rough-and-tumble of this scene (I violently shake up Ramsey) was eventually too much for Logan, who had a heart condition. He had to leave the show. The blonde guy next to me is David Watkins, an actor who appeared on a national beer commercial and then faded into obscurity.

Logan’s wife Anne was also an actor and played Mama in Throw Mama from the Train with Billy Crystal and Danny DeVito.

The Chicago Conspiracy Trial is still a legend in equity waiver (less than 90 seats) production in Los Angeles. It boasted a fine cast including George Murdock, a semi-regular on the Barney Miller Show whose endless credits go all the way back to the Twilight Zone in 1960.

Such brilliant actors and the play recreating the trial of the Chicago 7 fascinated the public. Lines stretched around the block to get in, and the play was a sold-out smash with critical raves that lasted for over a year. It became a live performance record album and was later restaged with a different cast.

Deathsport with David Carradine & Claudia Jennings

Here Here I am as a space alien motorcycle biker in the 1978 movie Deathsport starring the late David Carradine, and Playboy Playmate Claudia Jennings. The film was a piece of shit, one of the worst movies of all time. Do you recognize my suit? This was the same suit worn by the apes in the epic movie Planet of the Apes. Hollywood routinely re-uses costumes to cut costs.

Carradine was okay, but I had the hots for Claudia Jennings, and tried to flirt with her. Who did I think I was? A lowly bit player trying to get the star in her trailer and make love to her. Come to think of it, I was almost as shallow as she was. We should have hit it off.

Instead she insulted me. Claudia, her real name was Mimy Chesterton, couldn’t act her way out of a paper bag. When she wasn’t performing, she was causing havoc on the set. The director ordered her to her trailer and she threw a tantrum. She was later killed in a car wreck.

I guess I was lucky. You should be careful what you wish for.

This photo is of a truce meeting gone wrong at Panmunjom. A mob of North Koreans beat and stomp an American (on the ground at right). If you look closely at the guy on the far left, you can see a North Korean with a cigarette dangling from his mouth participating in the mayhem.e mayhem.

This picture shows ancient statues carved circa 1790 (China ruled Korea then) sitting forlornly in a vacant field in the DMZ. I wonder if they have been plowed over to make room for a housing development.
